What is an Arborist?

Arborist: Definition
An arborist is a professional that specializes in the care and maintenance of individual trees and woody plants. Arborists are not typically involved in forest management.
An arborist may specialize in:
- Planting and cultivation

- Transplanting and relocation
- Tree and stump removal
- Preventing and treating disease
- Hazard management
- Lightning protection installation
- Consulting and appraisal
Where do they work?
While some arborists climb trees to assess damage or perform inspections, others work from a crane or air lift. Other arborists work from the ground or only need a small ladder to their work. Additionally, there are some arborists that have traditional desk jobs as they only work in a consulting capacity.
